“MAEE” discusses reducing water consumption for the most consuming governmental entities
the National Water Efficiency and Conservation Center organized a workshop in Riyadh today entitled “Water Consumption Reduction Initiative for Governmental Entities”.
The third workshop which held in 2024 aims to enhancing cooperation efforts with various entities to achieve water sustainability and promote a culture of rationalization in water consumption.
The workshop focused on the importance of transforming the Kingdom into a global model in the field of water sustainability by adopting proactive measures to detect and treat water leaks to stop water waste, in addition to working on the path of improving water efficiency and rationalization through, periodic monitoring of water consumption at sites affiliated with governmental entities and working to reach normal consumption according to the number of users for each site, implementing preventive maintenance for the water system for each site and benefiting from the guide implemented by the center to examine the water system.
In addition to relying on alternative sources of public network water for use in cooling, irrigation and other uses, and working to implement a plan to replace non-rational sanitary tools with rational ones according to the technical regulations approved by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization.
The launch of the initiative by “MAEE” at the beginning of 2024 to reduce water consumption in all governmental entities 10% by the end of 2024 came as a result of the encouraging consequences achieved in reducing water consumption, which were achieved through the implementation of several projects and initiatives, the most important of which was the water rationalization project in the government sector, which was launched by “MAEE” in 2022, which aims to study and implement solutions to reduce consumption in multiple government sites and facilities and resulted in achieving a reduction in water consumption exceeding 75%, and the project to implement rationalization solutions in 436 sites affiliated with the Ministries of Education and Islamic Affairs, through joint cooperation between “MAEE” and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, which resulted in achieving an average reduction in water consumption exceeding 78% in the participating entities.
