Initiatives for conservation and leak detection achieved average water savings ranging from 62% to 78% by the end of 2023

The National Water Efficiency and Conservation Center (MAEE) affirmed several achievements in 2023 by launching initiatives for water conservation and leak detection. These initiatives contributed to achieving significant water savings in a sample of governmental and residential buildings, averaging between 62% and 78%.
This was highlighted in MAEE’s report on its achievements for the previous year, which revealed substantial financial savings through several projects aimed at implementing conservation solutions in governmental buildings, mosques, and schools. Additionally, water savings were realized for residential accounts through the leak detection service provided by the "Kashf" platform that contributes in water sustainability and Saudi Vision 2030 goals.
MAEE emphasized that activating strategic programs and initiatives for consumption reduction in urban areas has led to a cumulative water savings of 6.6 million cubic meters by the end of 2023. The achieved cumulative daily savings reached 25,276 cubic meters, equivalent to the needs of more than 31,000 housing units or over 155,000 beneficiaries per day.
MAEE explained that the water conservation project in the governmental sector achieved a cumulative daily savings of 6,291 cubic meters, with an average reduction rate of water consumption at implemented sites reaching 75%. Furthermore, in its first phase, the water conservation project in mosques and schools achieved a cumulative daily savings of 2,597 cubic meters, with an average reduction rate of water consumption at implemented sites reaching 78%. The implementation of the "Kashf" platform, which provides a reliable leak detection service through registered companies and institutions on the "Kashf" platform, contributed to a cumulative daily savings of 16,388 cubic meters, with an average reduction rate of water consumption for accounts benefiting from the detection service through the application reaching 62%.
It is worth mentioning that the National Water Efficiency and Conservation Center (MAEE) aims to contribute to achieving water sustainability through various national programs and initiatives based on best practices for optimal water use in urban, industrial, and agricultural.
